Kathy Eldon, a Wellesley graduate and former journalist, is the Creative Chair and Co-founder of the Creative Visions Foundation which supports “creative activists”, who use media and the arts to ignite positive change in the world.
Kathy, a pioneer in social-issue media, has written sixteen books, including the popular the best selling series of guided journals, Soul Catcher, Angel Catcher and Love Catcher, co-written with her daughter Amy Eldon Turteltaub and published by Chronicle Books. Kathy is the founder of Creative Visions Productions, a leading producer of social issue media. She executive produced and launched the PBS series, Global Tribe; Emmy nominated Turner Broadcasting Special about social entrepreneurs, Dying to tell the Story, about front-line journalists, inspired by her son, Dan Eldon, a 22-year old Reuters photojournalist killed in Somalia in l993. Together with her daughter Amy, she produced the acclaimed CNN documentary, Soldiers of Peace, A Children's Crusade, about the Nobel-Peace Prize nominated Colombian children's peace movement, as well as Lost in Africa, a family feature film on conservation distributed by Columbia Pictures.
Currently Creative Visions Productions is producing a number of projects including Moms on a Mission, a two hour special presented by Julia Roberts for the Oprah Winfrey Network on the power of mothers to change our world, Prized Women, a documentary about the seven living women Nobel Laureates and Journey, a major feature film about Dan Eldon, which will star Julia Roberts playing the role of Kathy.
Kathy has been featured in many books, including Arianna Huffington's “On Becoming Fearless”, and articles by or about Kathy have appeared in countless magazines and newspapers including The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Bon Appetit, The Sunday Telegraph and the Daily Mail. A popular motivational speaker, Kathy has made numerous television appearances including The Oprah Show, Jane Pauley, CNN World, and National Geographic.
